KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The 12th-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 game to East Stroudsburg University Tuesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinal round match at Keystone Field.
The Golden Bears (14-4-1 overall) controlled much of the possession and created a number of scoring chances, outshooting the Warriors (13-5-1) 18-6 overall, including 13-4 in the second half when KU played all 45:00 chasing goals.
Five Kutztown players recorded at least five shots, led by junior forward
Emily Zwiercan (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) with five. Passing and movement of the ball in the offensive third was not the problem for KU, ESU goalie Mauri Jackson just always seemed to be in the right place on every KU shot and finished with seven saves.
Junior goalie
Jenna Bracken (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) tallied three saves for the Maroon and Gold and now has a career-high 75 on the year.
Kutztown will now wait for its next game, opponent and location when the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 9. KU was voted second last week in the second of three regional polls released every Wednesday prior to the live NCAA Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m. on www.NCAA.com.
