ROCKAWAY, N.J. – The 24th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team downed seventh-ranked University of Maryland Eastern Shore for its 800th win in program history to highlight its 3-2 overall performance on day two of the Caldwell Classic.
KU notched No. 800 in style, racking up 934 pins to defeat UMES 934-902, winning its second ranked-match of the weekend.
Kutztown kept it rolling with an 844-789 win over Molloy, but then fell to two nationally-ranked opponents, No. 15 Adelphi and No. 13 Saint Francis. Needing a victory to secure a winning record for the second consecutive day, the Golden Bears dropped Felician 819-681 to finish 3-2.
No. 24 KU sits in fifth place at 6-4 behind, in order, No. 13 Saint Francis, No. 7 UMES, No. 12 Sacred Heart and No. 8 Delaware State.
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) bowled in all five matches, posting a frame average of 18.5 pins per frame.
Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) also rolled herself a solid day, notching a frame average of 18.0 which included a high-game of 209 against UMES.
Kutztown will match up with St. Francis Brooklyn tomorrow morning for a one-round traditional match before the two-round, best-of-seven baker-style bracket will be set.
