Day One Standings
ROCKAWAY, N.Y. – The 24th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team concluded day one of the Caldwell Classic with a winning record, finishing the day 3-2 in five baker-style matches on Friday afternoon in Rockaway, N.J.
The Golden Bears recorded their first ranked victory of the season, defeating ninth-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson by almost 100 pins, 911-816 in their third baker match. It was their highest-ranked win since a triumph over No. 6 Delaware State last March.
KU dropped its opening match, but then rattled off three straight, taking down Caldwell 862-786 and Bloomfield 811-751 sandwiched in between the win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Kutztown sits in fourth place at 3-2 behind three teams that are 4-1.
High frame averages on the day were freshman
Ashley Fister (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) at 17.57 in 50 frames and sophomore
Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) at 17.44
Kutztown begins day two of action in the traditional round with a 10 a.m. match against No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore.
