Day 1 Standings
ALTOONA, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team had a perfect start to its weekend tournament, going undefeated (4-0) on day one of the Red Flash Invitational on Friday in Altoona, Pa.
The Golden Bears are one of just four teams to remain unbeaten after the first day of competition, joining Lincoln Memorial (5-0), Caldwell (4-0) and Duquesne (4-0).
It didn't come easy for KU to win every match. Kutztown won the four Baker matches by an average of 35.75 pins.
In their first match, the Maroon and Gold defeated Saint Vincent 937-904. After a bye, KU took down Saint Peters 838-777. Kutztown then was victorious over Medaille 906-879. And in its final match of the day, KU edged out Felician 844-822 for a sweep of its matches.
In the 50 frames bowled Friday,
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) led the team with a 19.1 frame average, followed by
Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) at 18.4 and
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) with a frame average of 18.2.
Kutztown is fifth in the standings out of 17 total teams with a total score of 4,463 points. It had a 178.5 average per game.
The Golden Bears are 41-29 overall. They resume action tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 27 in day two of the Red Flash Invitational at 10 a.m.
