Tied for the largest NCAA invite in the country, this weekend's invitational will feature a 28-team field, 17 of whom are nationally-ranked, which includes nine of the top-10 teams in the country. Kutztown (33-20) sits just outside the top-25, receiving votes in the most recent National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, will compete in 10 matches over the first two days of the invitational, facing off with eight nationally-ranked programs. KU is 5-15 this season against nationally-ranked programs and 28-5 against non-ranked teams.

In their last competition, the Golden Bears claimed a second-place finish, coming in just behind No. 15 Adelphi at the Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational in New Castle, Del. on Dec. 1-3. Kutztown was led by the trio of Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley), Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) and Felicia Trievel (Reading, Pa./Wilson), whom each recorded 18-plus frame averages for the weekend tournament.

Fitts currently holds a team-high 18.8 frame average with Delp coming in right behind her with a frame average of 18.6. Trievel and Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) have 18-plus frame averages on the season as well, holding averages of 18.0 and 18.1, respectively. Kozma, Fitts and Delp also hold finished frame percentages of 75 percent or higher with Fitts leading the group with 83.1 percent of frames finished.

No. 4 Vanderbilt returns to Reading as the defending champion of the KU Invitational, going 13-2 at last year's invite. Delaware State, Fairleigh Dickinson, McKendree and Saint Francis rounded out last year's top-5 finishes, all of whom will be returning for this weekend's competition.

This weekend begins a stretch of four straight weekends of competition for the Golden Bears. After the KU Invite, they look ahead to the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis (PA), in Altoona, Pa. on Jan. 27-29.
