READING, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team hosted Chestnut Hill College on Friday, rebounding after a close opening loss to finish the day 2-1 at the Bowl-O-Rama in Reading.
The Golden Bears opened their day with a setback, losing their first match by only one point, 895-896.
Megan Bauter (Spring Lake, N.J./Manasquan) had her best performance of the season with an impressive frame average of 22.8 in the first baker match.
KU quickly rallied to defeat Chestnut Hill in the second match of the day, finishing with a 974-912 victory. Three Golden Bears bowled 200+ games in the second match, helping secure the win.
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) led KU, bowling a 222, followed by Bauter with a 219 and
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) with a 202.
The Maroon and Gold finished its third match with the best performance of the day, defeating Chestnut Hill by more than 100 points, 854-751. Fitts once again led KU to victory with a score of 207, helping the Golden Bears close the day with a 2-1 record.
Fitts led KU, scoring a total of 429 points on the day, followed by Kozma with 404.
The Maroon and Gold will return to action on Friday, Feb. 10, to host the Golden Bear Classic at Berks Lanes in Reading, Pa.
