Kozma Named to All-Tournament Team, Women's Bowling Finishes in Third Place on Day One of Molloy Invite

MINEOLA, N.Y. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished out day one of the Molloy Invite with two straight victories, ending the day with a 3-2 record for a third-place finish.
 
The Golden Bears (44-50) opened the day with a tough loss to Felician, 911-840. KU did not stay down for long and returned to edge New Jersey City, defeating it for a second time this season with a score of 857-833.
 
The Maroon and Gold faced some tough competition in their third match of the day against LIU Post. KU lost the match against the Pioneers, 881-819, before rallying to defeat its final two opponents of the day.
 
Saturday's fourth match brought about the Golden Bears' most impressive performance of the tournament. Led by Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) with a 19.28 frame average on the day, KU defeated Daemen College by a commanding 109-pin margin, 901-792.
 
Kutztown continued its momentum, closing the day with its second-straight victory over Molloy, 875-777.
 
Kozma's performance clinched the Golden Bear a spot on Saturday's All-Tournament Team.
 
KU ended the tournament third in a field of 10 teams in attendance.
 
The Golden Bears return to action tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 26, for another event in the Molloy Invite, beginning at 9 a.m.
