Bowling Splits Four Matches in Day Two of FDU Jamboree

Day 2 Results

STRATFORD, N.J. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team split its four matches Saturday in Day Two of the FDU Jamboree, finishing 2-2 on the day for a combined 6-3 record through the first two days of action.

It could have been much worse, but after losing the first two matches of the day, the Golden Bears stopped the bleeding and took the next two.

In match one, KU fell at the hands of No. 22 Franklin Pierce 962-843. The Ravens have had KU's number of late, winning four of the six matches these two had last season.

KU then had a bye, where five bowlers were still able to compete in a game due to the uneven number of teams in the event (15).

Match two, Kutztown dropped a close one to Caldwell 970-918 and found themselves 0-for-2 early on. But the losing streak would not last any longer.

In their third match of the day, the Maroon and Gold got back on track. They defeated Morgan State 895-798 to get onto the win column.

The fourth match saw Kutztown take down Chestnut Hill 969-920 to accomplish a split of its four games.

Sophomore Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) bowled a career-high and team-high 247 in the third match against Morgan State. Kozma ranked seventh out of the field with a 198 average through five games.

Senior Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) is 19th with a 187.60 average.

Kutztown's 6-3 mark and 9,047 pin fall through its nine matches positions it seventh in the standings out of 15 teams.

The third and final day of the event will begin at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 5 as Kutztown will look to finish strong.
