Field Hockey Falls in Second Half at No. 8 West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University field hockey team surrendered two second-half goals Wednesday to tell the tale of its 2-0 setback at No. 8 West Chester University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action from Vonnie Gros Field.

Kutztown goalkeeper Chardonnay Hope (New Castle, Del./William Penn) continued her commanding play in the cage by making seven saves in the first half. The shot differential proved too large for the Golden Bears, who were outshot 21-4 for the game.

In the 44th minute, West Chester beat the keeper off a tipped pass off a corner for a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, West Chester capitalized again off a corner, scoring from the top of the circle for its insurance goal.

Hope ended with a season-high 10 saves.

The Golden Bears remain on the road this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 14, to take on Mercyhurst University at 1 p.m.
