ALTOONA, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished out its second day of competition at the Red Flash Invitational on Saturday with a 3-1 record after a comeback victory over Morgan State.
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South)'s match-high 232 – KU's highest total of the day - helped the Golden Bears earn a 785-570 victory in its first match of the day against Thiel College.
After the strong opening win, Kutztown lost its only match of the day to No. 19 Saint Francis (PA), 959-747.
KU quickly bounced back to finish its day with two consecutive victories, earning it highest score on Saturday against New Jersey City, 884-804, behind
Renee Riffey (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) bowling a 221.
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley), the third Golden Bear of the day to bowl a 200+ game, would lead Kutztown to an 862-842 victory with a 209 to avenge a day-one loss against Morgan State.
Fitts led the Maroon and Gold with an average of 175.8 on the day, followed by Riffey with a 167.6.
Currently 6-3 at the event, KU remained ranked 10th out of 17 teams in attendance with an average 167.0 through its nine matches.
Kutztown continues play tomorrow, Jan. 29, for the final day of the Red Flash Invitational.
