Golden Bears Cap Weekend with Two Wins over Lincoln Memorial to Finish 21st at KU Invite

READING, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team went 2-1 in Sunday's bracket-style competition, defeating Lincoln Memorial University twice to finish 21st at the ninth-annual KU Invitational at Hiester Lanes in Reading.
 
The Golden Bears (24-37) opened Sunday morning with a 4-1 win over Lincoln Memorial in the best-of-seven competition. KU's top game of the match was a 197 in game two.
 
In the second round, Kutztown faced Bethune Cookman for the second time in as many days. KU led 2-1 after bowling a 221 in game three, but Bethune Cookman rallied by winning the final three games to earn the 4-2 comeback win.
 
In the battle for 21st place, KU faced Lincoln Memorial for the second time of the day. The teams went toe-to-toe and all the way to a decisive seventh game. KU won the final game 188-171 to earn the 4-3 team victory to close out the three-day tournament.
 
Vanderbilt went 13-2 over the weekend to win the KU Invitational. Delaware State was second, Fairleigh Dickinson was third, McKendree was fourth and Saint Francis (PA) was fifth.
 
Giselle Poss from Vanderbilt was named the Tournament MVP with a 240.8 average.
 
Kutztown returns to action next weekend, Jan. 27-29, at the Red Flash Invitational in Altoona, Pa.
