MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Saturday's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's swimming dual meet came down to the final relay to determine a winner. Between Kutztown University and Millersville University, whichever team took two of the top-three places in the 400-free relay would win the meet. Unfortunately for the Golden Bears, Millersville held the upper hand and downed Kutztown 132-130, snapping KU's four-meet winning streak.
 
The Golden Bears led 126-119 heading into the 400-free relay – the 14th event of the day. With the top three places awarding team points, the team that could take 2-of-3 spots would earn enough points to win. Millersville won the relay by just more than two seconds over KU's top team in 3:47.12. KU followed in second, but Millersville's third-place team edged out KU's fourth-place team by four seconds to earn the team victory.
 
Millersville won the first four events to take an early lead, but Kutztown roared back by winning the next three to close the gap. The three wins were part of KU's seven wins of the day, as the teams split the 14-event meet.
 
Bridget Perdoch (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and Kara Jones (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) each won two events for the Golden Bears. Perdoch made her mark in the breaststroke. She won the 100-breast in 1:12.43 and the 200-breast in 2:36.17, an existing PSAC time.
 
Jones won the 100- and 200-fly, both in existing PSAC cuts. She won the 100- in 1:01.63 and the 200-fly in 2:20.51. Linnea Pierson (Green Township, N.J./Newton) followed Jones in the 200-fly in 2:24.64.
 
Katerina Parowski (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) won the 50-free in 26.21, followed by Carley Wise (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) in second in 26.24. Parowski also placed second in an event, the 100-free.
 
Claire Frank (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) and Gab Louden (Crum Lynne, Pa./Ridley) capped KU's event winners Saturday. Frank won the 200-IM in an existing PSAC time of 2:16.60, finished second in the 1000-free and third in the 200-back. Louden won the 500-free in 5:29.75 and finished second in the 200-free in 2:05.61.
 
Kutztown returns to action next Saturday, Jan. 28, with another road dual meet at LIU Post at 1 p.m.
