MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) is quickly solidifying himself as one of the best running backs in the conference, if not the country. The redshirt-sophomore ran for 157 yards and four touchdowns Saturday and after trailing 13-6, led the Kutztown University football team to 35 unanswered points and a 41-13 road win at Millersville University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

The Golden Bears (1-3, 1-0 PSAC East) put up 559 yards of total offense – 309 on the ground – behind their third starting quarterback in four weeks. Redshirt-freshman Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) got the call under center and threw for 250 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown.

Reynolds' afternoon marked his third straight 100-yard game, a first for Kutztown since Yorel Prosser in 2001. His four touchdowns marked a career-high, KU's first four-TD back since 2014, and one shy of Stephen Gammage's school-record five in 2002.

As great as Reynolds and the offense looked in its ability to move the chains, the Golden Bear defense and defensive line were just as impressive at getting into the backfield. KU had nine sacks Saturday – its most since 1997 – spread across seven players. Steve Plousis (Philadelphia, Pa./Ridley) led the charge with 2.5 followed by Chris McMonagle (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) at 2.0.

The defense allowed six points, as Millersville also scored on an interception for a touchdown. With the sacks, Kutztown held Millersville to 18 rushing yards and 271 yards of total offense. Tajier Jefferson (East Orange, N.J./Queen of Peace) had a team-high eight tackles as Zack Delp (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) and Jake Perry (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) followed with six.

Adding sacks for KU were Jefferson, Eric Condron (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge), Ronny Tomasetti (Dickson City, Pa./Mid-Valley), Dean Gregory (Shavertown, Pa./Crestwood) and Chris Kimbiz (Brick, N.J./Brick Township).

In the secondary, KU's defensive backs had five pass break-ups, led by two from true freshman Ahkee Cox-Cowan (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) in his first career start.

Rounding out the offense, Darrell Scott (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) ran for a season-high 94 yards. Nathan Hollander (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) led the receiving core with five catches for 80 yards and the fourth-quarter score.

Millersville quarterback J.J. Paige threw for 253 yards on 24-for-36 and a touchdown.

Both teams went to the ground game early. A missed extra point by Kutztown after a 39-yard touchdown run by Reynolds allowed Millersville to lead 7-6 after the first quarter, Millersville's first lead over Kutztown since 2012.

Kutztown drove into the redzone early in the second quarter looking to take the lead, but a deflected KU pass was hauled in, intercepted by Millersville's P.J. Santos and returned 89 yards for a touchdown and a 13-6 lead. KU's Perry blocked the ensuing extra point attempt.

The Golden Bears responded well after the turnover, driving right back down the field and into the redzone. Reynolds scored his second TD of the day from six yards out to tie the game at 13.

On its next drive, DiGalbo connected with Reynolds for a 44-yard screen pass – KU's longest pass play of the year – to put KU back into the redzone midway through the second quarter. Reynolds followed with his third touchdown of the day, this from four yards out, to give KU a 19-13 lead after a missed two-point conversion attempt.

With less than 1:00 to play in the half, Millersville stopped KU on a fourth-down try, but turned it back over on a Delp interception to set KU up inside the 40-yardline. With no time remaining in the half, DiGalbo scampered for a 14-yard touchdown run. Reynolds' successful two-point conversion run out of the wildcat formation gave KU a 27-13 lead at halftime.

In the second half, a 43-yard run by Scott – his longest since 2013 – set up Reynolds' fourth touchdown of the game midway through the third quarter at 34-13.

Hollander hauled in a touchdown catch with 9:49 to play in the fourth to give KU a 41-13 lead, extending its consecutive scoring streak to 35 unanswered points.

Looking ahead to next week, Kutztown returns home for a two-game home-stand beginning on Saturday, Oct. 1 against West Chester University. Kickoff on Family Day at Andre Reed Stadium is set for 6:05 p.m.
