MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team held a 26-7 advantage in shots, had a second-half penalty kick, but could not get anything past Millersville University goalkeeper Samantha Wolfe as she shutout the Golden Bears 1-0 in Thursday's season-opener in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at Millersville's Pucillo Field.
Scoreless at halftime, Kutztown came out in the second half with an opportunity off a Millersville penalty in the box. Wolfe stepped up with one of her 15 saves and stopped the KU attempt in the 52nd minute.
14 minutes later in the 66th minute, Millersville scored the decisive goal. It was 1-of-3 shots Millersville had on-goal, compared to 15 for KU.
Kutztown returns home and prepares for its home-opener on Saturday, Sept. 3, with a non-conference game against Charleston. Game time at Keystone Field is set for 1 p.m.
