KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University baseball team dropped two games in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader against Shippensburg University, 3-1 and 13-7, on Friday afternoon at North Campus Field.

KU battled hard in game two, falling behind 10-1 after three innings. The Golden Bears were able to get it as close as 10-7 before SU pulled away with three runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Rottet, a freshman, led the Golden Bears on offense, finishing the afternoon a combined 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Ben Eppley (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Frederick C.C.)) went 3-for-7 with two runs scored. Freshman
Nick Lafferty (Croydon, Pa./Archbishop Wood) went a perfect 3-for-3 during his start in game two, adding a run scored.
Eight KU batters recorded at least one hit in the doubleheader, while five different players drove in RBIs.

Paul Piromalli (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West (Mercer County C.C.)) went a complete-game in the opener, allowing 10 hits and three earned runs while striking out three.
After today's PSAC action, Kutztown (17-21) is tied for fifth in the East with Bloomsburg University (20-16) at 7-11. Shippensburg (8-10, 18-21 PSAC) leapfrogged both teams and now sits in the fourth and final playoff position.
The Golden Bears have 10 PSAC games remaining on their schedule, including a season-series with Bloomsburg, April 22-23.
Kutztown and Shippensburg heads to SU's Fairchild Field to finish its season-series tomorrow, Saturday, April 16, with first pitch of game one at 1 p.m. Bloomsburg finishes its season-series at home against Millersville (33-3, 16-2 PSAC) at the same time.
