NFHCA Release KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University's field hockey team earned the top grade point average among all Division II programs at 3.54 last semester, announced on Monday. KU was one of 27 schools to be a 2015 ZAG Field Hockey / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Team Award recipient.
Kutztown's top GPA in Division II is its highest since earning the No. 2 honor in 2011. Its last No. 1 honor came in 2008.
It is the 12th consecutive year that Kutztown has been recognized with a Team Award. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum Team GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.

Marci Scheuing, the 2015 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Coach of the Year, has shown a strong commitment to excellence in the classroom. At Kutztown, her teams have received the National Academic Team Award in each of her three years, and her players have earned 27 nods to the National Academic Squad (3.3 GPA or higher) with five Scholars of Distinction (3.9 GPA or higher).
The 2015 ZAG Field Hockey / NFHCA National Academic Squad will be released on Tuesday, March 22. The 2015 ZAG Field Hockey / NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be released on Wednesday, March 23.
In 2015, Kutztown field hockey returned to the playoffs and hosted its first-ever home playoff game. KU finished with a 12-7 record, 7-3 in the PSAC, and improved its win total for the third straight year. KU had an eight-game winning streak and had five student-athletes earn All-PSAC honors and three celebrate All-America distinction.
