Final StandingsSTRATFORD, N.J. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team rounded out its weekend splitting its four games on Sunday and finishing sixth overall at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Sectionals.
The Golden Bears opened up their day against Felician and came up with a narrow 651-648 win.
Kutztown then played two of the best teams in the country in back-to-back games. First up was 22nd-ranked Sacred Heart, where Kutztown fell in a closely-contested match, 719-701. Following its match with the Pioneers, Kutztown then faced sixth-ranked McKendree and fell 714-609.
The Maroon and Gold would have its chance at redemption in its final match of the weekend against Sacred Heart. Kutztown would go on to successfully close out the day with a victory, 805-719.
Senior
Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) held the highest frame average of any Golden Bear over the weekend with a solid mark of 18.9.
Seniors
Amanda Wilson (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and
Taylor Strothmann (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) were not far off of their teammate, however, as they notched averages of 18.7 and 18.57, respectively.
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) and
Kayla Maselkevich (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) would go on to round out KU's top performers. Fitts ended the weekend with an 18.28 frame average, while Maselkevich would finish at 18.1.
Kutztown will have nearly two weeks to rest up for the ECC Championships, which start on Friday, March 25, at Hiester Lanes in Reading, Pa.
