Final Standings | Final Match Results ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team won three of its four matches on Sunday to win the day's baker-style tournament, and coupled with Saturday's one-day tournament, swept the KU Allentown Tournament at the Rose Bowl.
Despite Caldwell going 4-0, total pinfall determined Sunday's champion. Kutztown opened the day with the best game of the tournament. Its score of 1,018 was the only 1,000+ game of the weekend. KU totaled 4,585 pins in five matches that included one bye round.
The Golden Bears (47-30) opened the day with a 1018-748 win over Saint Peter's, suffered their only loss of the day to Caldwell at 787-896, and rallied with wins over Coppin State (956-580) and 19th-ranked Saint Francis Brooklyn (979-836).
Saint Francis Brooklyn finished second with 4,400 pins, Caldwell was third at 4,388, Saint Peter's was fourth at 4,014, and Coppin State finished fifth at 2,904.
Kutztown remains close to home next weekend with its Golden Bear Classic on Feb. 12-14 at Bowl-O-Rama in Reading, Pa.
