NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Kutztown University baseball team might have spent the day traveling to the 2016 Builder Invitational in Newport News, Va. but it didn't take long for the bats to warm up once the Golden Bears got off the bus.
Kutztown (1-4) exploded for 10 runs on 15 hits against Indiana University of Pennsylvania during a 10-0, seven-inning opening tournament win Thursday at War Memorial Stadium.

The Golden Bears jumped out to a fast 5-0 start after the first inning and wouldn't look back for the rest of the game. O'Dell got Kutztown on the board with a two-run home run, his second of the season, just two batters into the bottom half of the inning.

Nick Lafferty (Croydon, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and
Bo Rottet (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) also came around to score in the first. Kutztown went on to score a run-an-inning for the remainder of the game.
The game was called after seven innings due to Kutztown taking a 10-run advantage.
Three different players combined for the hits on offense for IUP (1-4). The Crimson Hawks left a total of seven men on base.
Kutztown is back in action again tomorrow, Friday Feb. 26, against host Newport News Apprentice School at noon in War Memorial Stadium.
