Friday Standings READING, Pa. – The 15th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team won four of its five matchups on Friday to start off the three-day Golden Bear Classic at Bowl-O-Rama in Reading, Pa.
The Golden Bears improved to 4-1 on the day after the team ended on a three-match winning streak. The run put the Golden Bears into a three-way tie for first in the standings after the first day of the tournament.
Kutztown's closest match was when the team came through with a 972-967 win during its fourth matchup against Mount Aloysius.
The Golden Bear also collected wins during the opening matchup against New Jersey City (926-663), their third against Saint Peter's (876-851), and their final of the day against Caldwell (931-791).
Kutztown plays five more matches on Saturday. Its first match on Saturday, Feb. 13 is against Daemen at 9:25 a.m. KU then goes on to play Franklin Pierce, Salem International, Morgan State, Sacred Heart and Felician.
Teams will compete in a bracket-style tournament on Sunday, with the seeds still to be determined until after Saturday's play.
