MILLSBORO, Del. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team won 2-of-3 matches on Sunday to cap the UMES Hawk Classic with five team wins.
KU opened the day with a 4-2 win over Coppin State, highlighted by jumping out to a 3-0 lead.
The Golden Bears followed with a setback to Howard, 4-3. In the seventh and final match, KU fell by just one pin, 191-190.
Coppin State and Kutztown squared off again in the final match of the day. KU won a 4-3 match, taking the final match 195-122.
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) led the team in frame average on Sunday at 20.3 through 40 frames.
Felicia Trievel (Reading, Pa./Wilson) held an 18.6 frame average, followed by
Melanie Aptaker (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) at 18.2.
Kutztown has the next two months off, hosting the KU Invitational on Jan. 20-22 at Hiester Lanes in Reading.
