Complete Game Notes

SERIES HISTORY:
Saturday marks the 68th meeting between the Golden Bears and the Red Raiders. KU ended a four-game skid against Shippensburg last year with a 51-27 win at Andre Reed Stadium. The Red Raiders hold a 29-3 home record in the all-time series and have not lost to Kutztown at Seth Grove Stadium since 1995 (a span of 10 consecutive wins).

PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS:  Kutztown and Shippensburg battle for first place this weekend. KU is the only undefeated team at 5-0 in the PSAC East. With a win, KU would clinch at least a share of the East title, and would advance to the PSAC Championship game on Nov. 12. If SHIP wins on Saturday, SHIP will play for the East title on Nov. 5 at Bloomsburg. Note: If KU finishes in a three-way tie at 6-1 with Shippensburg and West Chester, Shippensburg would advance to the PSAC title game with a 1-1 record in crossover play, the third tiebreaker.

PSAC EAST TITLES:  Kutztown has won two PSAC East titles in its history - 1980 and 2011.

TURNAROUND OF THE CENTURY:  The Golden Bears have turned three straight losses into five straight wins for the first time since 1983. The last time it turned three straight losses into six straight wins was more than a century ago, spanning from the final game of 1900, dropping the first two games of 1901 and then rattling off six straight wins. KU has never lost three straight, then won seven straight.

LAST WEEK: Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) had five touchdowns, Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) broke the school-record for career receiving touchdowns and Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) became the youngest player in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season in Kutztown's 35-29 Homecoming victory over Lock Haven last Saturday at Andre Reed Stadium to keep KU in first place in the PSAC East.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kutztown has had a PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week for five straight weeks. Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner)'s five total touchdowns won him this week's award - his second of the season. DiGalbo ran for three of his five total touchdowns in KU's win over Lock Haven, giving him a school-record seven rushing touchdowns this seasons as a quarterback.

RECORDS BELONG TO REYNOLDS: At East Stroudsburg on Oct. 15, Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) broke school-records for rushing yards (261) and all-purpose yards (345) in a game. Last week, he became the youngest player in school history to run for 1,000 yards in a season.

RECORD-BREAKING BLOCKERS: Kutztown has broken the single-game rushing record twice in its last 15 games. KU's 459 rushing yards against ESU in Week 7 were a school-record, surpassing the previous record of 400-even against Millersville last season. The offensive line was the same for both games - Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest), Mike Italiani (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), Ben Cregger (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove), Brian Robbins (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Skyler Panchari (Pottsville, Pa./Blue Mountain).

PROTECT THE QUARTERBACK: KU is the best in the PSAC at protecting the quarterback, allowing a league-low 1.00 sacks per game. In fact, KU has not allowed a sack in more than a month, dating back to Sept. 24, a school-record-span of four straight games.

RUSHING DEFENSE: Kutztown ranks sixth in the PSAC in rushing defense, allowing 110.9 yards per game. It is the second-best mark in the modern era at KU, behind a record 97.2 yards per game in 1995.

RUSHING ATTACK: Kutztown ranks second in the PSAC at 249.6 rushing yards per game. It had a school-record 459 rushing yards in Week 7, the second time in the last two years KU has broken the school rushing record. The school-record for rushing yards per game in a season is 250.4 from 1977. KU has run for more yards than it has passed in 6-of-8 games.

MOVING FORWARD: Kutztown has rushed for 100 or more yards in 16 straight games, dating back to 2015. Under head coach Jim Clements, KU is 16-6 when rushing for triple-digit yardage.

SHIP RUSHING DEFENSE: Shippensburg will be the toughest run defense Kutztown has faced all year. SHIP leads the PSAC and ranks second in Division II, allowing 75.6 yards per game. SHIP also leads the PSAC in scoring defense, allowing 15 points per game. Kutztown enters Saturday averaging 249.6 rushing yards and 30.1 points per game.

5-0 SINCE QUARTERBACK CHANGE: Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) and KU are 5-0 since DiGalbo took over at starting quarterback in Week 4 at Millersville. He has averaged 224.2 passing yards and 65.6 rushing yards over that span. For the season, he has 16 total touchdowns, including a school-record seven rushing touchdowns for a quarterback, with four interceptions.

ACCURATE PASSER: Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), a redshirt-freshman, leads the PSAC and ranks eighth in Division II in completion percentage at 68.6 percent, and ranks third in the PSAC in passing efficiency (143.0).

RUNNING QUARTERBACK: Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) has written his own record book for rushing records for a quarterback. He ran for 126 yards vs. Bloomsburg, including an 82-yard touchdown run - school-records for the longest and most rushing yards by a quarterback in a game. His seven rushing touchdowns this season are a school-record for a quarterback and 15th-most overall, while his three rushing touchdowns in a game vs. Lock Haven are the most in recorded history for a KU quarterback. His 334 rushing yards this season are the most since Shane Martin ran for 431 in 2008.

SACK LUNCH: KU ranks second in the PSAC and seventh in Division II at 3.75 sacks per game, second-most in school history behind a record 4.70 per game in 1985. KU has had eight and nine sacks in a game this season, both in the top-four in KU single-game history.

THE STREAK IS BROKEN: KU went 5-for-5 in PATs last week vs. Lock Haven, the first time this season KU did not miss an extra point attempt.

NO FIELD GOALS FOR US: KU is the only team in Division II to not attempt a field goal this season.

THE REYNOLDS RAP: R-So. Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) became the eighth and youngest Golden Bear to run for 1,000 yards in a season (previous seven were all in junior or senior seasons). He ranks second in the PSAC with 1,018 rushing yards, eighth-most in KU single-season history, and third with 12 touchdowns. He is 1-of-8 players in school history to average 100+ rushing yards in a season and the first since 2001. At 127.3 yards per game, Reynolds is on pace to break the single-season school-record of 1,393.

100-YARD RUNNER: Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) averages 127.3 rushing yards per game, 1-of-4 players in the PSAC to currently average 100+ per game. He is riding a three-game streak of 100+ rushing yards for the second time this season, a first for KU since 2001.

LEAVING A LEGACY: Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) is in the midst of re-writing the KU record books in his senior season. He is the all-time leader with 30 career receiving touchdowns, ranks second with 2,715 receiving yards (142 shy of tying record) and third with 196 catches (six shy of tying record).

KELLEN'S CORNER: Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg), a two-time All-PSAC East wide receiver, ranks fifth among active Division II players in career receiving touchdowns, seventh in receiving yards and eighth in receptions. He has eight touchdowns this season - fourth in the PSAC - and has caught a pass in 36-of-37 career games, including a current streak of 14 in a row.

DEFENSIVE LEADER: Zack Delp (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) ranks ninth in school history with 278 career tackles and 13th with 14.5 career sacks. A two-time All-PSAC selection, Delp has made a team-high 31 consecutive starts at linebacker for KU. He has notched 10 or more tackles in 13 games in his career, including four times this season with a career-high 14 coming last week vs. Lock Haven. Last year, he had 70 tackles in his first year on the field, the most by a KU freshman in more than 20 years, and ranked in the top-five in the PSAC with 16 TFL.

PERRY'S PICKS: Jake Perry (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) co-leads the PSAC and ranks sixth in Division II with a career-high five interceptions, tying him for eighth in single-season school history.

BLOCKING THE BLOCKERS: After allowing four blocked punts in the first two weeks, KU has improved its coverage with none in the last six weeks.

SEASONED VETERANS: Offensive linemen Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest), Ben Cregger (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove), Brian Robbins (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Skyler Panchari (Pottsville, Pa./Blue Mountain) are all returning starters. Combined, they have played in 134 career games.

STARTING CENTER: Junior Ben Cregger (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) has made 30 consecutive starts at center, the longest streak of any lineman for Kutztown.

EARLY LEAD: Kutztown has led at halftime in 22 of its last 23 wins.

BIG-TIME PUNT: Brennan Scott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township (Old Dominion)) nearly put his name in the KU record books last week vs. Lock Haven. With help of a couple favorable bounces, Scott booted a 75-yard punt in the first quarter for the second-longest punt in school history behind KU All-Time Team member Jon Corson, who hit a school-record 79-yarder in 2003.

PASS ATTACK: Dating back to 2011, Kutztown has thrown 30 or more pass attempts in 40 of its last 51 games (78.4 percent).

SENIOR RB DUO: Senior running backs Darrell Scott (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and James Wah Jr. (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) are in the midst of their senior seasons. Having split carries for most of their careers, the duo has combined for 2,903 career rushing yards and 24 touchdowns to go along with 71 combined games of experience.

ALL-AMERICAN TACKLE: Returning All-American Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest) has only missed one game in his career and has started at left tackle in 40 of KU's last 41 games, including a streak of 21 consecutive starts. His top honor last year was the AP Little All-America First Team, KU's first First Team selection since John Mobley in 1995. Morgan was a consensus Preseason All-American this year.

SPECIAL TEAM SPECIALIST: Led by Sherief Sutton (York, Pa./Central York)'s team-high 12 tackles on special teams plays this season, Kutztown's kick return defense is the best in the PSAC and fifth-best in Division II, allowing 15.68 yards per return.

OVERTIME HEARTBREAK: KU is 2-9 all-time in overtime (OT). It played its first three OT games in 1996, but KU's first OT win was a 26-23 victory over Millersville in 3-OT in the final game of 2007. KU's most recent OT win was the 2014 season-finale, when a last-second touchdown pass catapulted a 41-35 win at Clarion. KU's most recent OT game was in 2015, a 27-21 loss at Bloomsburg.
