Three Golden Bears Post PSAC Marks in Tri-Meet at Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa. - The Kutztown University women's swimming team got its season underway on Saturday as it competed with East Stroudsburg and host Misericordia in a tri-meet. KU managed to take down Misericordia, 161-96, but fell to East Stroudsburg by a score of 159-101.

Sophomore Claire Frank (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) picked up right where she left off last season as she won all three of her individual events on Saturday, posting two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)-qualifying marks in the process.

Frank recorded PSAC marks in both the 100-back (1:02.04) and 200-IM (2:18.24), and posted a time of 2:18.66 in the 200-back. She was the lone Golden Bear to secure an event win in the tri-meet.

Junior Kara Jones (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) and sophomore Katerina Parowski (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) also posted PSAC marks at the tri-meet. Jones posted a third-place finish in the 200-fly (2:20.89) and was also KU's top finisher in the 100-fly as she finished second with a time of 1:03.09. Parowski recorded a PSAC-qualifying mark in the opening leg of the 200-free relay, posting a time of 25.84 seconds.

Parowski also picked up top-three finishes on the day in three freestyle races. She placed second in both the 50- (26.33) and 200- (2:04.56), and was third in the 100- (57.96).

Junior Gab Louden (Crum Lynne, Pa./Ridley) notched two second-place finishes in distance freestyle events. She recorded a time of 5:45.83 in the 500-free and finished the 1000-free in a career-best time of 11:43.96.

Madi Bleiler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) posted a second-place finish in the 200-back (2:22.89) and finished third in the 100-back (1:03.76).

The Golden Bears return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. as they compete in a dual meet at Juniata College.
