Sellars' Hot Hand brings Golden Bears Victory and Win No. 250 for Coach Driscoll

Video Highlights

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team picked up another home victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action Wednesday night. It earned a 103-75 win against the Mountaineers of Mansfield University inside Keystone Arena, giving head coach Bernie Driscoll his 250th career victory.

Howard Sellars (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area (Saint Peter's)) was the offensive juggernaut for the Golden Bears as he knocked down a career-high 25 points, fueled by a perfect 7-for-7 performance from beyond the arc. Sellars was just one 3-pointer shy of tying KU Hall of Famer Dave Ben's single-game record of eight from 2009, but Sellars' name will stand in the KU record books for the most 3-pointers in a game without a miss. He is one of four players in PSAC history to make seven or more without a miss and the first since 2008.

A strong first half resulted in a comfortable halftime lead for KU of 56-26, four points shy of its game-high 34-point lead it held early in the second half.

Unselfish play and good rotations were key factors to the Golden Bears assisting on 23 of their 28 field goals. Kutztown also featured five double-digit scorers.

Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) has continued to impress in his freshman campaign and Wednesday night was no different. The reigning and three-time PSAC East Freshman of the Week scored 16 points and dished out four assists. Anthony Selby (Jersey City, N.J./Williamstown (Burlington County CC)) came alive offensively with 12 points of his own for his third double-digit effort in his last four games.

Junior captain Austin Beidelman (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) was up to his usual bag of tricks as he commanded the floor and facilitated with ease. He finished with 14 points and six assists.

Kutztown's bench has been its focal point for much of the young season and similar results repeated against Mansfield.  KU received 47 points to Mansfield's 15 off the bench.  KU also held the advantage in rebounds (35-24) as well as converted free throws (35-7).

Mansfield found much of its production from Brad Williams, who dropped 18 points. Thomas Moore also put in solid minutes with 15 points.

Kutztown will be packing its bags for the weekend as it will be facing off against PSAC opponent Cheyney on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m., but stayed tuned to www.KUBears.com for potential schedule changes due to forecasted snow this weekend.
