KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's lacrosse team traded blows with visiting Georgian Court University on Thursday afternoon at Keystone Field, but the Lions' first-half lead carried them to a 10-7 victory over Kutztown in non-conference action.

Kutztown (1-8) and Georgian Court (4-5) exchanged goals throughout, but a three-goal spurt by the Lions in both halves helped keep KU from taking the lead.

After Taylor Stone tied the game at 3-3 off a pass from Cara Lord with 10:25 left in the first half, the Lions scored three straight to open up a 6-3 advantage. Lord found Jillian Spencer for her second goal of the game in the closing seconds of the half to cut the deficit to two at the break.

The Lions struck first in the second stanza, but the Golden Bears weren't out of it yet. Stone scored KU's fifth goal with 19:19 remaining to record her third hat trick of the season. Then, senior defender Kelsey Halligan took the rock coast-to-coast and slotted it in the back of the net for her first-career goal, making it a one-point game.

Georgian Court responded with another three-goal stretch to put the game out of reach. KU's Sarah Gabriele closed out the scoring, with Lauren Huggins recording her second assist of the contest.

Courtney O'Neill was a force on the other side of the ball, leading the team in groundballs (4), caused turnovers (6), and draw controls (4). Gabriele won three draw controls, while Lord, Devan Davis, and Jillian Figel each scooped up three groundballs.

Abby Cox tallied two saves during the first half in goal and Jen Bergey made three stops while playing the second half in net.

The Lions were led by Taylor Reinecke's four goals, all coming in the first half. She also recorded a game-high eight groundballs and a team-high five caused turnovers. Callie Brown notched two goals, two assists, and four draw controls for GCU.

The Maroon and Gold next head to Seton Hill University this Saturday, April 4 for a 3 p.m. conference matchup.
