KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Advia Campbell secured her fifth double-double of the season and Alyssa Bonenberger netted a team-high 17 points to lead the Kutztown University women's basketball team to its third-straight victory. The Golden Bears hosted Cheyney University on Wednesday, defeating the Wolves 65-60 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup from Keystone Arena.

With 4:48 remaining in the second half, Cheyney (3-19, 3-14 PSAC) knotted things up at 52-52 after trailing Kutztown (9-12, 8-9) for the majority of the game.

Bonenberger then caught fire from the field, hitting her final four shot attempts and scoring nine of the team's final 13 points. Bonenberger hit a clutch three-pointer with under a minute to play that ultimately secured the KU victory. Kalee Fuegel came off the bench late and contributed the rest of the Maroon and Gold's final 13 points with a 4-of-5 performance from the free-throw line.

Kutztown only trailed for 2:22 in the middle of the first half, and never by more than four points.

Both teams shot exceptionally well from the free-throw line, with only four combined misses all night. Kutztown finished 17-of-19 from the charity stripe, while Cheyney was 12-of-14. It was KU's highest free-throw percentage in a game this season (89.5 percent).

The Golden Bears won the battle down low, outscoring Cheyney in the paint (32-20) and on second-chance points (16-5).

Bonenberger finished with 17 points, five rebounds and two steals, while shooting perfect from the free-throw line (6-of-6). It is her second-highest scoring game this season, and largest since the season opener (25). For her career, she has now moved up to 10th on the KU record book in rebounds and 11th in free-throws made.

Campbell earned her fifth double-double of the season off of 15 points and 10 boards, while swatting away a game-high three blocks.

Elisa Gaffney has turned it up a notch the past couple weeks, rounding out the KU double-digit scorers with 10 points and her fourth-consecutive game in double figures. She was perfect from the free-throw line and added five rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.

Natalya Lee offered a balanced game of eight points, six rebounds and game-highs in assists (7), steals (4) and minutes (36). Point guard Brianna Morales tallied five points, three assists and no turnovers, while Kelsey Watson recorded seven rebounds, four points and three assists.

Taschell Phillips led all scorers with 18 points for Cheyney, adding eight boards and four steals. Kyra Hines-Allen recorded 13 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double, while Kia Whitley-Duncan chipped in 13 points with three triples.

The Golden Bears will next embark on a three-game road trip, beginning with Millersville this Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. The Marauders won the first matchup this season, 71-58.

Wednesday night also marked Kutztown's annual recognition of its fall semester Dean's List student-athletes. 114 student-athletes earned Dean's List honors this past semester by earning a 3.6 or higher grade point average (GPA).
