Women's Bowling Opens First Day of Final NEC Meet of the Year

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team turned in some of its best matches of the year in conference play on Saturday, but when nearly the entire Northeast Conference (NEC) is nationally-ranked, good performances don't always equal wins. Kutztown went 1-3 on Saturday to open the first day of the third NEC Meet of the season.

The Golden Bears (54-45, 8-10 NEC) hold the sixth spot in the running standings through the three regular season conference meets, which is crucial as the top six teams in the final standings qualify to compete in the NEC Tournament in late-March. KU is 8-10 in conference play, two games ahead of seventh-place Adelphi, whom KU defeated 982-904 on Saturday and holds a potential tiebreaker over.

KU bowled over a 900 in each of its four games. It fell to Saint Francis Brooklyn, 1058-924, Fairleigh Dickinson, 1015-976, and the host Saint Francis (PA), 965-939.

FDU remains in first place in the running standings at 17-1.

Action resume on Sunday, March 1 at 9:25 a.m.
