Bowling Ends Saturday on High Note at Home Invite

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The 18th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team did not open the second day of its inaugural Golden Bear Classic as it had planned. It dropped its first four matches, capped with a three-point loss, but rallied with a win in its final match of the day as it remains in fifth place.

The Golden Bears (51-41) fell in matches to Franklin Pierce (789-858), Cheyney (830-855), Saint Francis (PA) (817-919), and a narrow three-point loss to 20th-ranked Delaware State (927-930). In the KU-DSU match, KU led by 31 pins heading into the final game, but was out-shined by Delaware State, 213-179 in the final game for a three-point loss.

In the position round to set up Sunday's bracket, KU earned some redemption over Cheyney with a 946-910 win. The teams will also meet in the first round of Sunday's action.

Fairleigh Dickinson, Saint Francis (PA) and Delaware State all went 8-2 over the first two days. FDU holds the lead in total pinfall at 9597, followed by SFU at 9406 and Delaware State at 9335. Adelphi is fourth at 8983 as KU sits in fifth at 8775.

Notably, the best KU can climb to on Sunday is third place.

The final day of the inaugural Golden Bear Classic at Parkway Lanes in Allentown begins on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 8:25 a.m. KU will face Cheyney in the first round.
