Golden Bears Drop Non-Conference Tilt to Holy Family

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Two Golden Bears combined for more than half of KU's points on Wednesday afternoon as the Kutztown University women's basketball team dropped a 76-63 decision to Holy Family University in a non-conference game at Keystone Arena.

Kelsey Watson (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) combined for 38 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists in the setback. Watson posted her second double-double of the season and third 10+ rebound game of the year with game-highs of 20 points and 15 rebounds. Her 15 boards tied her previous career-high from last year's game at Holy Family. She added five assists, one shy of her career-high, and two steals in 35 minutes.

Lee finished with 18 points and seven assists in 37 minutes of action. She drained four three-pointers for the third time in her career and the first this season. Lee improves to 10th in school history with 97 career three-pointers, is the 12th player in school history to dish out 300 career assists while ranking 11th with 306, and ranks 13th in KU history with 1,025 career points.

Kutztown (6-5) was outscored 18-7 in the third quarter in its 13-point setback. It shot 3-of-19 in the 10-minute period. Outside of the third quarter, KU played within a bucket through most of the first half.

Keifonna Ferguson (Norristown, Pa./Norristown Area) played a career-high-tying 24 minutes and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. She also added three steals and two assists.

Holy Family shot 44.4 percent from the field and posted four double-digit scorers. Abigail Iannotti and Erin Fenningham each scored 15 points and combined for 12 rebounds. Kylie Giedemann finished with 11 points and Kelly Giedemann shot a perfect 3-for-3 on her way to 10 points.

The Golden Bears look to respond on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, when they return to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. They host the Golden Knights of Gannon University at Keystone Arena beginning at 1 p.m.

Lee will be honored pre-game for scoring her 1,000th career point earlier this season.
