KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team fell to Slippery Rock 2-1 on Saturday in a well-played, gritty Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match in the Golden Bears' regular season finale on Senior Day from Keystone Field.

Kutztown (11-5-1, 11-5 PSAC) will travel to Edinboro University on Tuesday, Nov. 3 to take on the Fighting Scots at 1 p.m. in a PSAC Tournament Quarterfinal match.

The Golden Bears spent the majority of the opening half on Saturday in Slippery Rock (12-5-1, 11-4-1) territory, but were unable to get on the board.

The Rock captured momentum heading into the break, as Caitlin Binder scored unassisted with 42 seconds left on the clock after a great run through the midfield.

In the 56th minute the Rock pushed their lead to 2-0 after capitalizing on a three-on-one break following a KU turnover.

The Golden Bears responded at 60:56 when senior Diana Malanga (Lavallette, N.J./St. Rose) fired a shot into the upper left side of the goal, banking it down off the crossbar for her sixth goal of the season to cut the lead to 2-1.

Earlier, Malanga was forced to exit the game after a nasty collision near midfield. When she entered back into the game, it took her just 29 seconds to put the Golden Bears on the board. She is now sixth in KU history with 22 career goals.

The Maroon and Gold continued to fight down the stretch, but were unable to bury the equalizer.

KU led 19-14 in shots and 7-4 in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) made six saves.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for student-age. Admission is free to students with PSAC-school ID.
