KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University football team ran the ball 57 times for 400 yards on the way to a 47-14 defeat of Millersville University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on a cold, windy and rainy evening on Family Day at Andre Reed Stadium.

KU's 400 yards on the ground are its most in a single game in at least the past 18 years.

Although Kutztown (3-2, 2-0 PSAC)'s offense relied on the run, one of its most significant achievements on the night came through the air. In the second quarter senior wide receiver Kodi Reed (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Chad Barton (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg). With the touchdown, Reed set a new Kutztown University record for career touchdown receptions (24). He finished the evening with four catches for 56 yards.

Running backs Terry Williams (West Orange, N.J./Cosby (Phoenix College)) and James Wah Jr. (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) each ran for over 100 yards and Darrell Scott (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) finished with 17 carries, 94 yards and a touchdown. Williams led the way with a season-high 177 yards and three touchdowns. He has now surpassed 1,000-career rushing yards (1,070). Wah Jr. recorded eight carries for 101 yards including a 62-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Last season, the running back trio put up equally impressive numbers against Millersville. All three recorded over 100 yards on the ground, the first time in KU history three different players reached the 100-mark in a single game.

The Kutztown defense limited Millersville (0-5, 0-2) to 245 yards of total offense (141 passing, 104 rushing).

Each team held nearly identical time of possession, but Kutztown converted on 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) third-down plays, while MU was limited to 3-of-12 (25 percent).

Barton completed 7-of-19 passes for 98 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He added 28 yards on four carries.

Defensively, KU had seven players record at least five tackles. Tajier Jefferson (East Orange, N.J./Queen of Peace) and Zack Delp (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) led the way with eight tackles each. Ronny Tomasetti (Dickson City, Pa./Mid-Valley) recorded two sacks for a loss of 11 yards and five total tackles. The team finished the evening with a season-high four sacks.

The Golden Bears led 34-0 at halftime and kept Millersville off the board until the last minute of the third quarter.

Following the game, fans were treated to a wonderful display of fireworks presented by PSECU in celebration of the university's Sesquicentennial.

Up next, the Maroon and Gold travel to West Chester on Saturday, Oct. 10 to square off with the Golden Rams at 1 p.m. at John A. Farrell Stadium.
