WALLINGFORD, Conn. – Coach
Joseph Ambrose collected his 600th career win on Saturday afternoon as the 18th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team captured the title at the Sacred Heart Invitational with a 3-1 record.
Ambrose now holds a 602-404 career record at Kutztown in his ninth year with the team. He is the only women's bowling coach in KU history and has had great success throughout his tenure.
The Golden Bears (13-1) started out the day with an 878-908 loss to Franklin Pierce before winning their next three matches and capturing the team title due to a head-to-head tiebreaker over Sacred Heart.
Kutztown defeated Felician (915-895), 13th-ranked Sacred Heart (1047-1005) and Caldwell (980-867). Senior
Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) made the All-Tournament team for KU, bowling scores of 190, 185, 222 and 235 in the four matches (191 in bye round). Stamm was fourth overall out of all bowlers with a 204.6 scoring average per game.
Seniors
Amanda Wilson (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and
Kayla Maselkevich (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) finished sixth and seventh overall in average per game with 189.6 and 187.6, respectively. Maselkevich bowled the best game of the day for Kutztown with a 256 against Sacred Heart.
Kutztown is back in action next weekend, Friday Oct. 30 to Sunday Nov. 1, at the Farleigh Dickinson Jamboree held in East Brunswick, N.J.
