KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team had an exciting 4-1 win on Wednesday afternoon as it returned to the win column over Mansfield University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at Keystone Field.
 
The Golden Bears (9-4-1, 9-4 PSAC) struck first just 2:30 into the game. Diana Malanga (Lavallette, N.J./St. Rose) scored her fifth goal of the year off an assist by Taylor Burt (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser). KU kept the pressure up and fired off many shots before it scored next at the 24:27 mark, when Alyssa Ryan (North Wales, Pa./Wissahickon) scored on a breakaway, her fifth of the year as well.
 
KU led 2-0 at halftime. In the 56th minute, Felicia Silveira (Hampton, N.J./Voorhees) scored off a pass by Logan Kramer (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor (Arkansas State)), pushing the Golden Bears lead to 3-0 over the Mountaineers. Alaina Curry (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) capped the scoring for KU with the final goal in the 74th minute.
 
Two minutes later, Mansfield put itself on the scoreboard. Delaney Meadows scored her 10th goal of the season off an assist by Rachel Hohenwarter to cap Wednesday's scoring.
 
The Golden Bears held a 22-5 lead in shots as sophomore goalkeeper Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tallied four saves in the win.
 
Kutztown takes on Mercyhurst University on Saturday, Oct. 24th at 12 p.m. at Keystone Field.
