Box Score 2 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team quickly turned around from two long matches on Friday afternoon to another set of matches beginning early Saturday morning. The Golden Bears succeeded with sweeps over Winston-Salem State and Elizabeth City State to wrap up the WSSU Invite with a 3-1 record.
Kutztown opened its day with a straight-set win over the host Rams of Winston-Salem State.
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led the offensive attack with 10 kills and four blocks.
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) dropped six kills on the left side, and setter
Anna Conti (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) dished out 25 assists.
Defensively,
Madison Brake (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) tallied 10 digs.
The Golden Bears kept their foot on the throttle with another straight-set win over Elizabeth City State (25-20, 25-14, 25-13). Stringer tallied a team-high eight kills as
Zandria Zielinski (York, Pa./York Catholic) dropped seven kills with 3.5 blocks. Braga was also active on the front line with five kills and two aces.
Conti was efficient again as the full-time setter with 24 assists, 14 digs and three aces.
The Golden Bears now enjoy the ride home from North Carolina for some well-deserved rest over the weekend. They open their home schedule on Monday, Sept. 8 at Keystone Arena at 7 p.m. against Albright College.
