ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – The 13th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team competed in its second Northeast Conference (NEC) meet of the season on Saturday. Kutztown opened the two-day tournament with a 2-2 record.
The Golden Bears (29-21, 6-5 NEC) sit in third place in the NEC standings. Saturday marked the midway point of the NEC season, as the conference splits its conference-qualifying tournaments in three, two day tournaments.
Saint Francis (PA) opened the day in first place, but suffered an opening loss at the hands to the Golden Bears, who threw their best score of the day of 1007 in a 1007-905 win. KU fell to LIU Brooklyn, 909-845, rallied to beat Adelphi 955-922, and ended the day with a 905-871 setback to Saint Francis Brooklyn.
Fairleigh Dickinson is 10-1 through the first 11 matches, followed by Sacred Heart at 7-4 in second place. Saint Francis Brooklyn and Saint Francis (PA) are tied with KU for third in the standings at 6-5. Following the final conference NEC meet of the season in February, the top six teams will move on to the postseason tournament.
