KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University football team's defense turned in its second straight shut-down performance on Saturday afternoon as it shut out Lock Haven University 19-0 on Senior Day in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game at University Field at Andre Reed Stadium.

The Golden Bears (5-4, 5-3 PSAC East) held their opponent to negative rushing yardage for the second consecutive week and allowed just 106 total yards. KU jumped out to a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter and trusted its defense to bring home the victory.

Prior to kickoff, Kutztown honored 13 players for Senior Day. Among them were Jarvis Cummings (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), Josh Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Dallastown), Brett Fox (Laureldale, Pa./Muhlenburg), English Peay (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington), Drake Brumfield (Marietta, Pa./Donegal), Sam Dougan (Secane, Pa./Ridley), Cody Waltimyer (York, Pa./York Suburban), Mike Nowak (Limerick, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), Zach Greenwald (Gibbstown, N.J./Paulsboro), Peter Finegan Jr. (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown), Greg Bamberger Jr. (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood), Cameron Lipnicky (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) and Michael Gallagher (Clarksboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional).

Most of the senior class started Saturday's game that gave KU a winning record of 5-4 with two games to play, as some achieved career milestones in the process. On defense, Greenwald joined the 200-tackle club, one of 19 players in school history. He notched five on Saturday to raise his career total to 202. On offense, Fox eclipsed the 100-catch mark and is the 13th player in KU history to haul in 100 career catches.

Kutztown's linebackers played one of the most significant roles in the defensive success, led by sophomore Zachary Delp. The Whitehall native notched a career-high 13 tackles, nine of which were solo tackles. He had four tackles-for-loss, a pass break-up, a quarterback hurry, and capped his day with a solo sack in the endzone for a safety.

In the secondary, Peay was a ball-hawk and swatted down a game-high six passes. He increased his school-record pass break-ups to 42, and broke Pete Mendez's program-record for passes defended (interceptions + break-ups) in the process with 48. It moved him up to second in PSAC history behind Shippensburg graduate and current member of the Miami Dolphins, Brent Grimes (2002-05).

Quarterback Chad Barton (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) connected with freshman Nathan Hollander (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) for a 34-yard touchdown pass on the team's first possession of the game for an early 7-0 lead. Two possessions later, running back Terry Williams (West Orange, N.J./Cosby (Phoenix College)) took the handoff on the first play of the drive for a 16-yard touchdown run around the corner and a 14-0 lead.

Freshman kicker Alec Rosenfeld (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) converted his only field goal attempt from 19 yards and moves to 10-for-11 on the season.

Barton threw for 219 yards on 16-of-30 passing and a touchdown. He also scampered eight times for 36 yards. Luckenbaugh also featured in the fourth quarter and connected on a six-yard pass to Tyler Wise (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs).

Hollander was the top target with six catches for 63 yards. Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) had five catches. The sophomore also surpassed 1,000 career receiving yards and is the 16th player in school history to do so. He stands at 1,030 yards.

KU finished with 98 rushing yards, as it marked KU's first win this season in which it did not rush for 100 yards. Kutztown improved to 5-0 this season when holding its opponent to less than 100 rushing yards.

The Golden Bears look to extend their winning streak to three in their Eastern Division finale on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Shippensburg University. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
