Kramer Nets Overtime Winner; Women's Soccer Sets New Program Record for Consecutive Wins

ERIE, Pa. -- The 23rd-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team came away with a thrilling 1-0 victory in overtime over Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday. The clutch victory extended its winning streak to nine games, which breaks the program record for most games won in a row.

The first 90 minutes of the contest was not enough to determine a winner, but an overtime goal by Logan Kramer (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor (Arkansas State)) in the 92nd minute lifted the Maroon and Gold to the victory. The goal was assisted by Sam Busillo (Lincoln University, Pa./Avon Grove) as she passed the ball from the left side of the net into the middle of the box to set up Kramer for the game-winner.

The defense for Kutztown was once again very stout, picking up its eighth shutout of the season. The Golden Bears only allowed six total shots to get off, and only one of those shots was on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) came away with the save to secure the clean sheet.

With the victory, the Golden Bears improve their record to 12-3 overall and 11-3 in the conference, while Merychurst drops to 4-11-1 and 3-10-1. KU is currently in third place in the conference behind only West Chester and East Stroudsburg.

The Golden Bears will look to extend their win streak to 10 games on Oct. 28 on their home field against Edinboro in PSAC action.  The game is set to kickoff at 1 p.m.
