Photo GalleryREADING, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team won three of five matches on Sunday to conclude its season-opening home invitational with an 8-2 record while finishing fourth overall in Sunday's standings at Berks Lanes.
The Golden Bears (8-2) opened their day with wins over Saint Peter's (883-756) and New Jersey City (902-608). Kutztown's highlighted match was against 10th-ranked Saint Francis (PA). KU, the 12th-ranked team in the country, posted its highest score of the day with a 927, but saw its conference foe bowl a 986 in KU's first defeat of the season. KU rebounded with an 882-727 win over Cheyney and ended the day with an 850-802 setback to Adelphi.
Junior
Taylor Strothmann (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) led the team on Sunday with a 207 average in four games, including a day-high 236 against New Jersey City. It was one of two matches in which she knocked down more than 200 pins.
Kayla Maselkevich (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) held a 192.2 average and played in all five of Kutztown's Sunday matches. Her high for the day was a 219 against Saint Francis (PA).
All 10 roster players saw action on Sunday.
Allison Seidel (Morgantown, Pa./Cocalico) bowled a 215 in the opener against Saint Peter's and finished with a 181.7 average in three games. Junior
Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) averaged a 169 on Sunday in four games.
Dakota May (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) opened her day with a 170 against New Jersey City and averaged a 158.3 in her three matches.
The Golden Bears return to action on Oct. 31 at the FDU Jamboree in East Brunswick, N.J.
