KU Advances to NEC Semifinals

NEC Championship Central | Day One Video Recap

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- The Kutztown University women's bowling team is one of three teams competing in the semifinals for the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship after going 3-1 Saturday in NEC competition at Parkway Lanes.

The Golden Bears (76-40) defeated St. Francis Brooklyn 4-3, New Jersey City 4-1, and Sacred Heart 4-1, and only fell to Adelphi 4-2.

In the fourth and final round Saturday, KU battled and defeated Sacred Heart for the chance to face St. Francis (Pa.) in the semi-finals Sunday.

Kutztown University women's bowling head coach Joe Ambrose said that the team has a chance to win the conference, and they are excited for Sunday.

"Hopefully we can play as well as we did in the afternoon on Saturday," said Ambrose. "It's tough from the losers' bracket but we will give it all we have."

If the Golden Bears defeat St. Francis (Pa.) in the semifinals on Sunday, they will advance to compete against Adelphi for the NEC Championship. Kutztown will be looking for its first NEC title in program history.

Semifinals are available live HERE beginning at 9:30 a.m.
