Swimming Prepares to Host LIU Post

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's swimming program will compete in its third meet this weekend, as Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) opponent LIU Post will make an appearance at the Keystone Pool on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a dual meet at 1 p.m.

The Golden Bears currently hold a 1-2 record after coming out of last weekend's tri-meet at Misericordia. KU began the season with a solid win over Mansfield, 114-85.

LIU Post has a 3-1 dual meet record, currently riding a three-meet win streak.

Junior Jessica Bleiler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) has gotten off to a hot start, undefeated so far in the 100-fly, an event in which she holds the school record. She also won the 200-free against Mansfield and the 200-fly against Misericordia and East Stroudsburg.

After taking last season off, Zoe Sianis (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) has returned to leave her mark during her senior campaign. She locked down a dominating win in the 200-IM against Mansfield. In the Misercodria tri-meet, Sianis was edged by less than half a second in the 200-IM, and also grabbed the silver in the 100-fly behind Bleiler.

Top sprinter Caitlin Davies (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) has secured a first-place finish in the (50-, 100-, and 200-free) so far this season.

Senior Elizabeth Metz (Rosemont, PA/Radnor) has returned as KU's top distance freestyler. In the 500-yard free and the 1000-yard free, Metz was the top finisher in both events against Mansfield, and followed with two second-place finishes in the Misericordia tri-meet.

Samantha Scialpi (West Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area) has had an impressive start to her sophomore season, already posting career-best times in both meets.

This weekend's home meet will be good preparation for the Golden Bears, as KU is scheduled to host its annual Golden Bear Invitational next weekend at the Keystone Pool, beginning Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m.
