After an early exit in the conference playoffs, the Maroon and Gold were slotted as the fifth seed, while West Chester holds the fourth seed in the region. The winner will then face No.7 California (PA) (17-2-2) on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 12 p.m. California (PA) will host the first two rounds of regional action as the top seed.

The Atlantic Region final will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed in the region on Friday, Nov. 22. The Atlantic Region winner will then play the other East Region winner in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 24 at the site of the highest remaining seed in the East Region. The semifinals and championship games will be played Dec. 5 and 7 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga., and hosted by the Peach Belt Conference.

In just the second game of the Golden Bears (12-6) young season, then ranked No. 7 West Chester (13-7) visited Keystone Field with high confidence, before freshman Alaina Curry (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) buried two goals and KU walked out with the 3-2 victory.

Kutztown would host the Golden Rams one more time this season, occurring nine days ago as the sixth-seeded West Chester squad achieved redemption against the third-seeded Kutztown squad, with a 2-1 victory in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Quarterfinals. WCU would eventually fall to the first-seeded California (PA) Vulcans in the championship match.

The other half of the region also features solely PSAC teams. Third-seeded Shippensburg (11-5-3) will take on sixth-seeded Edinboro (12-5-2), with the winner going up against second-seeded Slippery Rock (13-3-2).

Kutztown has now qualified for the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament for the fourth time in the last five years, jumping into the national rankings last week for the first time of the season. They are ranked 25th in the national poll, marking the sixth consecutive year that the Golden Bears have been featured in the national poll.

Sam Costello (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) leads the Golden Bears with 22 points, one ahead of freshman Megan Frailer (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright). Carly Yost has been the center point of the West Chester attack, scoring nine goals and dishing out five assists for 23 points.
