KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team dropped a straight-set Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match to visiting Lock Haven University Friday night at Keystone Arena. The Lady Eagles won the first three sets 25-18, 25-19, and 25-17.
Lock Haven (10-7, 1-4 PSAC) came into the match against Kutztown (8-8, 2-3) seeking its first conference win of the season. The Eagles utilized efficient attacking throughout to grab their first PSAC victory.
The Golden Bears front line struggled to take control, committing an above-average number of errors.
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led the way with three blocks for KU, putting away eight kills.
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) added eight kills while also leading the squad with 11 digs.
Liama Goodrich (Birdsboro, PA/Daniel Boone) knocked away nine kills, while
Danielle Van Buren (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) added six.
Anna Conti (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) dished out 26 assists in the defeat and
Madison Brake (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) hustled for nine digs.
After a tough first-set loss for KU, the Eagles set the tone in the second set, bursting out to an early 6-1 lead. Lock Haven rode the momentum the rest of the way, grabbing the second set 25-19, and the third 25-17, in which the Lady Eagles hit .500 to secure the match.
Kutztown looks to redeem itself tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 5 as it takes on Pitt-Johnstown at Keystone Arena, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
