Bower Named to All-Tournament Team as Golden Bears Finish Fourth at Hampton Roads Invite

NORFOLK, Va. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished fourth at the Hampton Roads Invite, ending the weekend with a 6-4 record.

During the first best-of-seven baker match on Sunday, the Golden Bears lost to Adelphi, 4-1. Despite a few lineup changes, the team struggled in a grinding second match against Morgan State, falling 4-3.

Regrouping, Kutztown earned wins against Hampton (4.5-0.5) and Bowie State (4-1). In the final position round for third place, Kutztown fell to Adelphi 4-1, finishing in fourth for the weekend.

"We had a few unexpected setbacks this weekend, but now all we can do is move forward and learn from our mistakes," head coach Joseph Ambrose said. "Spares will absolutely make or break us in the upcoming weeks."

Senior Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team for her performance during the traditional matches on Saturday. Bower averaged 190.4 for five games.

"There is no reason we should let our performance this weekend hinder us," Bower said. "We need to pick each other up, stay focused, and give 100 percent effort at all times."

The Golden Bears travel to Elmwood Park, N.J. on Friday Nov. 1, competing in the FDU Jamboree, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University.
