KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team dropped the opening match of this weekend's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover Tournament held at Keystone Arena, a 3-0 setback to California (PA).

The Golden Bears (10-11, 4-6 PSAC) received an exceptional attacking performance from sophomore Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury), but it was not enough to handle California (PA) (17-4, 10-0), who is currently on top of the PSAC West.

In the first set, Stringer converted six out of seven attacks into kills, an attack percentage of .857. However, the California Vulcans took the set 25-19.

Stringer continued to shine, finishing the second set with a .643 attack percentage. KU battled throughout the entire set, but the Vulcans were able to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-21 victory.

California successfully served its way to a 12-4 lead, eventually securing the match with a 25-18 third set win.

Stringer finished the match with 14 kills and only one error, the fourth time this season attacking over .500. Liama Goodrich (Birdsboro, PA/Daniel Boone) ended up second on the team with seven kills and added three blocks.

Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) had a nice overall game, knotting six kills, nine digs, a block, and a service ace.

Libero Madison Brake (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) led the defense with 17 digs, while setter Anna Conti (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) dished out 27 assists.

KU will return to action later this evening, as the Golden Bears close out the Friday matches with a contest against Seton Hill University at 7:30 p.m.
