Three Game Win Streak Snapped at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team could not hold on to a halftime lead as Millersville outran the Golden Bears 78-56 in PSAC East play.
 
The teams entered the day tied for second in the division standings, but the loss pushes KU to 8-5 and third place in the PSAC East.
 
Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) led Kutztown with 12 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.  Ashley Wood (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) led the Golden Bears with 13 points.
 
KU erased an early 16-5 deficit to tie the game at 24-24 on two free throws by Campbell with 3:59 left in the first half.  The sophomore forward gave the Golden Bears a lead less than minute later, but Celeste Robinson knotted things at 26-26 with 2:46 to go in the opening period.
 
Campbell then found Natalya Lee (Feasterville, Pa./Rancocas Valley Regional) for layup and after the Marauders tied the game again, Wood was fouled while shooting a three and sank all three foul shots for a 31-28 advantage with 1:18 remaining in the half.
 
Millersville pulled to within one, but Lee got in close for another layup and was fouled. She completed the three point play for KU's biggest lead of the game, 34-30.  Robinson hit a jumper with 24 seconds left to send the Marauders in the locker room trailing 34-32.
 
Kutztown held MU to just 37 percent shooting in the first half and just 2-of-8 from three-point range.
 
Millersville then opened the second half with a 34-8 run over the first 13 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach.  The Marauders overcame their first half shooting woes and hit 48 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range.
 
Campbell went 4-of-10 shooting and 4-of-5 from the foul line and added two blocks and two assist to her stat line.  Wood had four steals before leaving the game.  Avery Hodgson (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional) came off the bench for nine points and a blocked shot.
 
The Golden Bears hit 82 percent of their free throw attempts in the game (14-of-17).
 
Four Marauders scored in double figures, led by Aurielle Mosley with 20 points and 13 rebounds.  Mashira Newman added 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals.  Robinson netted 16 points, while Miesha Cousins pitched in with a dozen.
 
KU returns to Keystone Arena for a PSAC East matchup against Mansfield on Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
