Box Score MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University tallied 17 blocks as a team, including 11 by
Nicole Brumbley (Oxford, PA/Oxford), but Millersville managed to come away with a 3-2 win over the Golden Bears.
The two teams traded wins in each of the first four sets. The Marauders looked to be in control after a 25-12 win in the first set, but KU regrouped to tie the match at one set apiece with a 25-17 second set victory. The Golden Bears showed more resiliency after MU took the third set 25-20 and opening set four with a 14-4 run to force a fifth set with a 25-15 win. The Marauders, however, won the final set 15-12 to take the match.
Brittany Harman (Hanover, PA/South Western) notched a double-double for Kutztown with 10 kills and 10 digs. She also served up a pair of aces.
In addition to Brumbley's big night at the net,
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) had eight blocks to go along with eight kills.
Brianna Risch (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) added five blocks.
Kimberlee Gomber (Washington, PA/Washington) joined Harman with a double-double off of 21 assists and 10 digs.
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) led the team with 17 digs.
For MU, Samantha Agostini had a match-high 17 kills and Jessica Franz dished out 43 assists.
Kutztown stays in action with a road trip to Shippensburg on Saturday, September 29 at 1 p.m.
