Box Score KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Foul weather pushed back the kickoff between Kutztown and East Stroudsburg on Saturday evening, and the Golden Bears returned home with a loss.
The Golden Bears struggled for possession of the offensive advantage throughout the first half, taking three shots to the Warrior's six.
In the 42nd minute, a shot by East Stroudburg's Lauren Buchanan-Dwyer resulted in the first and only goal of the game by Michelle Gogolen.
The Golden Bears opened the second half strongly with two shots within a minute of each other by
Diana Malanga (Lavallette, N.J./St. Rose) and
Taylor Higgins (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley). Higgins' shot on goal was saved by East Stroudburg's goal keeper Brittain Wagner.
Taylor Burt (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) also had two shots within a minute of each other in the second half, one of which was a shot on goal. Burt's shot was the second save made by Wagner.
The Warriors ended the second half with four more shots, two of which were saved by KU goal keeper
Alina Rakiewicz (Denver, PA/Cocalico). Rakiewicz finished the game with four total saves.
Holding the shot advantage of 14, doubling Kutztown's tally of seven, East Stroudsburg won the game 1-0.
The Golden Bears continue play on the road, traveling to Mansfield University on Tuesday, September 25, for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
