Box Score 2 KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University volleyball team continued its strong play with two more wins at the Kutztown Classic.
The Golden Bears (4-1) opened the day with their second straight five set win, defeating the College of Saint Rose 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 27-25, 15-11. KU then closed out the tournament with a straight set win over the University of Sciences 25-15, 25-21, 25-18.
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) and
Brittany Harman (Hanover, PA/South Western) continued their strong play in the win over Saint Rose. Braga had 17 kills and 19 digs, while Harman had 12 kills and 15 digs.
Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy) dished out 23 assists, while
Kimberlee Gomber (Washington, PA/Washington) added 19 assists and 11 digs.
Emily Heppler (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) had 20 digs and
Nicole Brumbley (Oxford, PA/Oxford) led the team with five blocks.
Harman dominated in the win over the Sciences with 18 kills and just one error on 30 attempts. She also had nine digs. Braga was credited 10 kills and 14 digs. Heppler had 15 digs. Brumbley matched her output from the game against Saint Rose with five blocks.
Wright paced the team with 19 assists, just one more than Gomber.
The Golden Bears will look to stay in the win column on September 7 and 8 at the Wildcat Invitational at Wilmington University.
