RESULTS
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. -- The Kutztown University women's swimming team fell to LIU Post, 148-99, on Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Recreation Center Natatorium in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) clash.
Caitlin Davies (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata),
Ellen Groeneveld (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and
Jess Mape (Camp Hill, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) each picked up a win on the afternoon for the Maroon and Gold.
Davies led the way in the 100-yard freestyle, reaching the finish line at 56.54.
Jessica Bleiler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) (59:67) and
Rachael Burke (Barnesville, Pa./Mahanoy Area) (1:02.21) rounded out the top three spots in the event. Davies also went on to take third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.20) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (25.81).
Groeneveld took the crown in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 2:31.79.
Emily Scordato (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) (2:34.15) took second in the race as
Samantha Scialpi (West Pittston, Pa./Pittston) (2:34.86) finished third.
The third victory came in the tenth event when Mape reached the first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:31.67.
Natalie Carr (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) would follow up in second-place at 2:42.85. Mape also went on to take second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.29.
Lauren Galetto (Vineland, N.J./Sacred Heart), Bleiler and
Melanie Felkner (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) finished two, three and four, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly. Galetto turned in a time of 2:15.87, while Bleiler finished at 2:26.21 and Felkner finished at 2:37.11.
Elizabeth Metz (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) also had a productive day taking second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:05.16) and third in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:30.50.
Kelli Sheatsley (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) followed behind Metz in each event taking third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:37.00) and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:40.22).
In the final event of the day, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Davies, Metz, Burke and Galetto combined to take second, finishing with at 1:48.74.
Kutztown will get back to action on Friday and Saturday when it host its annual Golden Bear Invitational. Friday is set to get underway at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday will start at 10:00 a.m.
