ALLENTOWN, Pa. (March 13, 2011)--The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished third at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Allentown Sectionals and qualifed for the USBC Nationals in Columbus, GA on April 20-23. (RESULTS)
KU improved to 83-28 overall and went 7-0 during the weekend. Kutztown is ranked eighth in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. The Golden Bears defeated SUNY-IT 778-651, Long Island University 721-641, and Adelphi 750-704 earlier Sunday afternoon. Kutztown finished with a total pin fall of 11896.
The format for Sunday's competition was (8) four game matches for a total of 32 Baker Games. The top four teams qualifed for USBC Nationals next month. Central Florida finished first with a pin fall of 12537 and Pikeville was second with a pin fall of 12110. Rounding out the top four was Adelphi which posted a 11689.
"I am very proud of our team," Kutztown University head coach Joseph Ambrose said. "They worked hard and this is a great opportunity for our program."
Kutztown returns back to the lanes Friday, March 18 when it travels to Nashville, TN for the Music City Invitational.
